Keep in mind completing bar tending school is not the same as a server permit. You can learn the drinks on your own, and this is just learning the ingredients of a drink, but the server permit focuses more on safe serving as opposed to actually knowing how to prepare drinks.

Alaska, Arkansas, Deleware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin are the states that require a certificate to bartend. All others do not.
